Building A Great Commission Church Staff - Part II
Scripture sets the agenda for both the pastoral leaders and the New Testament church with strong, interrelated statements of mission, calling for intentional leadership, evangelism and discipleship. This call to mission endures to this day. Our staff structures then should reflect these Gospel-centric functions that command the church to “make converts” and to “teach.” The recommendation for a church organizational structure that mirrors God’s mission for the church begins by arranging ministry priorities according to their relation to the two primary objectives of the church; first, making converts (Evangelism) and second, teaching (Discipleship). These will be referred to as the “Two Pillars.”
Building A Great Commission Church Staff - Part I
Administration in a New Testament church can sometimes feel like a sideline or a distraction. But when the goal is to guide the church to take seriously the Great Commission, this work becomes much more important. For this, it’s necessary that a biblical focus begin in areas such as sound preaching, holy living, regenerate church membership and so on. But one should also consider the organizational structure as a key element in the effort to return the church to the Great Commission priorities of evangelism and discipleship. Building and keeping an effective staff is important enough, but when considered as a strategy for returning our churches to their Christ-given prime directive, the work becomes pivotal.

Are Christians Ignoring America’s New Town Hall?
On Friday, Dec. 15, David Alexander reported for Reuters that “Americans use TV, other media 10 hrs a day”. This report gives us the chance to underscore something that we have been saying for some time here at the Bible Media Group.
The Bible Tract
Below is a photo of one of my new contemporary heros, Ray Comfort when I met him in Dallas in 2006. Note Ray always carries a Bible tract in his shirt pocket, ready to share the Gospel at the drop of a hat.
Bible Media... What?
Okay, so people seldom get it when it is first explained. Gospel TV commercials. Bible verses on billboards. They stare blankly as if waiting for the other shoe to drop. I guess it is somewhat the nature of the beast. When I was graduating college and heading into my advertising career, I remember telling a friend about my aspirations as an ad man. His only response: “so you want to paint signs?”
